130 guests tasted ten RODA and all CORIMBO and CORIMBO I vintages. The frist date in a new national and international RODA vertical tasting tour.

Haro, 13th of March 2010. "Bodegas Roda: Rioja versus Ribera del Duero" was the name given to a spectacular vertical tasting of RODA vintages from 1998 to 2007, presented by Agustín Santolaya, General Director of Bodegas RODA, at the Vinoteca El Lagar in Burgos. The tasting was attended by 130 people and 2.500 glasses of wine were served, including every vintage of CORIMBO (2008, 2009 and 2010) and of CORIMBO I (2009 and 2010) the two wines which Bodegas RODA make in Ribera del Duero. The tasting in Burgos, home of the new CORIMBO and CORIMBO I wines, starts off a new tour of Bodegas RODA vertical tasting through various Spanish citied and the rest of the world, to celebrate the Bodega's 25th anniversary.

D. O. Ca. Rioja versus D. O. Ribera del Duero

In Rioja, RODA obtains complex and elegant wines thanks to the soils and the influence of the three climates of the region (Atlantic, Mediterranean and Continental), and rigurous efforts to consistently obtain wines with very refined tannins. In Ribera del Duero, the climate is predominantly Continental, with a considerable day-night temperature difference. This result in very aromatic wines, more rooted in the area and more structured. During its search for vineyards, Bodegas RODA bore in mind that it wanted to produce fine wines, whilst maintaining the Ribera character. The charactarestic La Horra soil and its singular climate were the final determining factors in our choice. The aim is to apply RODA's experience to the vineyards of La Horra in order to produce two new elegant and pleasant wines. These will no soubt be ranked among the top wines of Ribera del Duero.

Just as Bodegas RODA helped to give a new focus to Riojan wine-making in the early 90's, Bodegas LA HORRA intends to lend its new vision about tempranillo from Ribera del Duero to the region, taking advantage both of its accumulated knowledge and experience acquired over its 20 year history in La Rioja.
