BIOGERM: Biotypes selection and creation of a genebank of tinta del país in ribera del duero with biodynamic methodology

During the last century has been an increase in the loss of agricultural biodiversity on a global scale. Furthermore, the current evolution of the temperature in the Northern Hemisphere clearly shows a trend of global warming. These facts, coupled with a growing interest in the production and consumption of natural, organic and biodynamic products, lead Bodegas La Horra to design and develop a project called BIOGERM 2013.

In this PID individual project and with collaborations with a technological center from the Basque Country (NEIKER) and the Public University of Navarra (UPN), the technical team from Bodegas La Horra intends to carry out the selection of biotypes and to create a genebank of Tinta del País in Ribera del Duero with biodynamic methods, using the preservation of intravarietal biodiversity and combating climate change as selection criteria.
