CLIMATIC CYCLE

We were coming from an unusually warm and dry year. Winter began with some rainfall and occasional snowfall, although after Christmas precipitation virtually disappeared. The end of winter and the spring were particularly dry, with very little rainfall recorded until early June, when several storms associated with isolated upper-level depressions arrived.

At the end of May, frosts affected much of the Ribera del Duero, although in our area the impact was minimal. The summer was marked by a complete absence of rainfall throughout July and August, combined with extremely high temperatures that reached almost 41ºC in August.

The vineyard experienced a significant vegetative slowdown towards the end of the summer due to the drought, and an especially early harvest was expected. However, September brought some relief with the arrival of rainfall, although temperatures remained high, encouraging isolated outbreaks of botrytis and slowing both ripening and the pace of harvest.

The vintage was defined by severe water scarcity, with annual rainfall of just 367 mm and persistently high temperatures, resulting in wines of great intensity, concentration and character.

Colour:

Pink with quite intensity. Out of the usual fashions. Bright, luminous, cheerful. In transition with the historical clarets.

Nose:

Very fruity with stone fruits in the line of apricot and peach with some citrus notes. Floral notes of light rose petal. The wood is impeccably assembled, it is almost imperceptible, but the work is noticeable in the depth of the aromas, achieved in its 15 months of aging.

The mineral sensation of the limestone soil is present, and the detail of hydrocarbons, rubber, clean.

Palate:

Volume and freshness. Light citrus sensation and lots of fruit reminiscent of peach and apricot. The wine fills the mouth very well with a silky and refreshing volume. It is very long and leaves a lasting feeling of freshness.

The soil is present with the details of limestone notes. It is much more than expected in a rosé due to the fullness that aging brings it and at the same time it has the maintained freshness of a great white. A delicious wine that vindicates the ancestors of the fine ink Ribera clarets with the elegance and delicacy of an impeccable production.
