CLIMATIC CYCLE

It has been a rainy year in La Horra, 491 mm. of rainfall from November 2015 to October 2016. It is surprising that it rained much more than in La Rioja. The late fall and winter were warmer than usual and very dry.

The months of February and March were very rainy and in April there were enough rains. We reached the grape vine sprouting with a very important accumulation of water.

Spring, which was cold, delayed the budding of the vineyard. Summer passed with normal temperatures, with very little water stress at the beginning, due to the large reserves provided in the spring and some rains during the month of July. The end of summer was very hot and dry, which augured an early start of the harvest, which ended up being extended until September 29th due to occasional rain and the drop in temperatures.

The leaves stayed on the plant for a long time until the first frosts of November.

The harvest took place with good weather, it began on September 29th and lasted until October 18th. The harvest was excellent with high level wines, very expressive and with very good quality tannins.

TASTING

Colour:

It has medium-high layer with a dark red background and red rim.

Nose:

Great intensity, full of red and black fruits, among which cherry and blackberry stands out. It´s very rich in mineral nuances, aromatic herbs and fine spices.

The sensation of wet earth stands out and the aromatic ones under the pine forest, among which the rockrose stands out.

There is a very interesting note of fresh pistachio.

The nose is important, with good volume and the perfectly assembled oak, almost imperceptible.

Palate:

Voluminous, wide, with present tannin but fine-grained and pleasant on the palate.

The fruits fill the mouth, dominating the red ones over the black ones, leaving a pleasant sensation of freshness.

Some fine and subtle oak notes appear, in a very delicate way. A delicious sensation of fresh sweetness remains in the aftertaste.

It is very long, possible one of the best Corimbo we have ever made. It is a great time to enjoy it, but it will live many years.
