CLIMATIC CYCLE

We came from a warm and dry year. Winter began with some rain and a few snowfalls, although after Christmas, precipitation practically disappeared. The end of winter and spring were particularly dry, with very little rainfall recorded until early June, when some storms associated with cut-off lows (DANAs) arrived.

At the end of May, frosts occurred across much of the Ribera del Duero region, although in our area the impact was minimal. Summer was marked by a complete lack of rainfall during July and August, accompanied by extremely high temperatures that reached almost 41°C in August. The vines suffered a significant growth stagnation at the end of summer due to the drought, and a particularly early harvest was expected.

However, September brought some relief with the arrival of rain, although temperatures remained high, favoring some outbreaks of botrytis and slowing the ripening and harvesting process. The harvest was characterized by water scarcity and high temperatures, resulting in intense, concentrated wines with great character.

Rainfall: 331.60 mm.

Thermal integral: 1732.74 degrees – day.

TASTING

Colour:

Medium-bodied, with a deep cherry-red background and rim.

Nose:

Very intense, with lot of fruit. Within the range of red fruits, it evokes the flesh of the fruit alongside the pits of cherries and plums. There are hints of undergrowth and paint. Aromas such as marjoram and rockrose are present. The oak is very well integrated, remaining in the background. One of the most complete noses of any Corimbo wine ever produced.

Palate:

Full-bodied with a magnificent texture. The tannins are very good, with a certain juicy and fresh grain. The fruits perceived on the nose dominate the palate, with cherry and plum in full bloom. There is great freshness. The wine has a very long finish and leaves a clear impression of the landscape. It is incredible to experience how, in warm vintages like 2023, the fruit is so present and so fresh.

Possibly one of the best Corimbo wines in the history of Bodegas La Horra.
